Many WEEE recycling companies export WEEE, often selling hazardous components (such as CRT monitors) to bulk exporters, when a PC base unit is exported with a CRT monitor it attracts less import duty in the country of destination - often, once this type of waste is landed at its destination, it is simply dumped, causing huge local and global environmental issues. I am sure we have all seen pictures of dumped electronic equipment where children then process the waste and even use naked flames to burn off the coating on copper cable.

All WEEE removed by Surplex UK Limited that requires specialist treatment (such as CRT monitors, batteries, toner) is processed in the UK by our carefully selected partners ensuring all hazardous materials are removed and dealt with according to current legistlation.

All WEEE received by ourselves is stripped to component level. All metals, plastics and other waste materials are seperated, sorted and processed. Components which can be reused are put back into circulation thereby adhering to the WEEE Directive - recycle through reuse!
